Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
In February 2025 we rode the cable car up Sugarloaf Mountain in Rio de Janeiro to watch the sunset. We had the best French fries of our lives up there while the whole city turned gold below us.
The soft golden haze makes this Rio de Janeiro jigsaw puzzle a challenge, with the city and peaks as your anchors.

About the area
Sugarloaf Mountain rises about 1,300 feet straight out of Guanabara Bay at the mouth of Rio de Janeiro's harbor. A two-stage cable car, running since 1912, carries visitors to the top for views of Copacabana, Christ the Redeemer and the city.
The coastline around where this photo was taken, with the land traced line by line. The bold line is the shore, and each thin line marks 5 m of elevation.
