Riviera Maya, Mexico
A work event brought me to the Riviera Maya in June 2024, and we used it as an excuse to travel a little farther and explore. These stone steps leading up to a small chapel, wrapped in green, were one of my favorite finds of the trip.
The stone steps and chapel give this Mexico jigsaw puzzle a clear structure, while the dense greenery takes a little more patience.

About the area
The Riviera Maya stretches along Mexico's Caribbean coast in Quintana Roo, from south of Cancún down to Tulum. It's known for turquoise water, Maya ruins, and cenotes, the freshwater sinkholes scattered through the limestone jungle.
The coastline around where this photo was taken, with the land traced line by line. The bold line is the shore, and each thin line marks 5 m of elevation.
