Isla Tortuga, Costa Rica
In May 2026 we took a boat across the Gulf of Nicoya to Isla Tortuga, Costa Rica. While we were there, I snapped this view of some of the smaller boats moored off the beach in clear turquoise water.
Rocks and boats anchor this Costa Rica jigsaw puzzle, while the turquoise water and clouds take time.

About the area
Isla Tortuga is a small island in the Gulf of Nicoya, off Costa Rica's Pacific coast, reached by boat from Puntarenas or the southern Nicoya Peninsula. White sand, clear water and snorkeling make it a popular day trip.
